This is my opening post for Reengineering Politics. So that you know, Reengineering Politics is not another left or right leaning political news organization. Lord knows, we have too many of those the way it is. I am an engineer. My primary role as an engineer is to identify problems, solve those problems, and guarantee results.
The founders of the U.S. did the best they could in trying to set up a government that was by the people, for the people and of the people. Since our founding, we fixed some inequalities to improve our political systems. Today, politicians enter politics with the best of intentions. Regardless of whether they are on the left or right, politicians want to make a positive difference. Once elected, these well-meaning people get caught up in a political battle that only serves to enrich political parties. We can do better! Engineers, by their nature are objective thinkers. They get paid to find problems and fix those problems. I believe this is what we need in our current political environment. Our current political challenges include: the economy, ethnic division, education, election integrity, foreign relations, immigration, abortion, sexual orientation, and hundreds of other issues. The problem is that politicians on the left or the right spin the topic in favor of their side and ignore the legitimate points of the other side. Each side works its base into a frenzy about how they are good and the other side is evil. This frenzied crowd nominates their candidate in primary elections. The rest of us get to pick between the absolute worst candidates to solve problems. This nature of politics has 30% of the electorate elated, 30% of the electorate angry, and 40% of the electorate scratching their heads.
We now have 30% of the population leaning left, 30% of the population that lean right, and 40% of the population trying to make a rational political decision when it comes time to vote. Reengineering Politics is not for the 60% who have picked their sides. They are irreconcilably lost. Reengineering Politics is for the 40% who think rationally about political problems. It is this 40% who past the political spin. It is this 40% who will ultimately help our country repair the problems that plague our democratic-republic.
Articles I publish on www.reengineeringpolitics.com will highlight errors of the established viewpoints on the left and the right. As such, I expect to get arrows from both established political parties. That's okay. I'm not omnipotent. My aim is not to be right about everything. My aim is to create reasonable discussions about important political topics that lead to genuine solutions. If you want to engage in these reasonable political discussions, I urge you to join the private Facebook group entitled Reengineering Politics.
I will be writing and publishing books, blog posts, and social media entries. If you're part of the 40%, I urge you to follow along.
